Ingredients

3 tablespoons Epsom salt (or coarse sea salt)

1/2 cup baking soda

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 cup citric acid

1 tablespoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil

Natural liquid food dye or soap colouring

15 drops of Citrus Bloom

7 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil

Tools

Bath bomb moulds

Spraying bottle filled with witch hazel or water

Instructions

  1. Divide 3 tablespoons of Epsom salt between 2 bowls. In one of the bowls, add one drop of food dye or soap colouring. In the remaining bowl, add one drop of another food dye or soap colouring. You can choose to add more drops of either colouring for more intense colours.

  2. Stir the individual mixtures to help evenly distribute the dyes as the colour of the salts develops.

  3. Next, combine the baking soda, cornstarch and citric acid in a large mixing bowl. Whisk together with a spoon or fork. Then, add the essential oils to this mixture.

  4. Carefully add one tablespoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil to this dry mixture and combine. Make sure to smooth out all the lumps.

  5. Take a handful of this mixture and squeeze it in the palm of your hand. The powder should clump together like damp sand. If it doesn't clump together, you can lightly spray the mixture with some water (or witch hazel), using a spraying bottle.

  6. Stir the mixture well between each spritz and make sure it doesn't begin to fizz in the bowl! Check regularly to see if the mixture has clumped up. When it does, it’s ready.

  7. Put a few salts at the bottom of each mould. Then add the rest of the coloured salts to the bath bomb mixture. Carefully stir all the ingredients together.

  8. Fill your moulds one spoonful at a time. Press the mixture down after each scoop (you don’t need to press too hard – it helps the bath bomb halves stick together if some of the mixture is loose on top). Once both halves are full, press them firmly together.

  9. Let the moulds sit for a few hours or overnight. By morning, carefully take a bath bomb out of the mould and use it for a fizzy and relaxing bath.

Note: this recipe fills an 8cm diameter bath bomb mould or two 4cm diameter bath bomb moulds
